Muscle Milk/Toyota/JGRMX Steel City Results

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 3, 2011) – Just one week after Irene soaked the sands of Southwick the sun was shining at Steel City Raceway in Delmont, Pa. for the penultimate round of the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series. The track is coined “Steel City” due to its proximity to Pittsburgh, just one hour away.

Davi Millsaps continues to improve after his knee surgery and is training regularly and expecting to begin riding again very soon. Les Smith will continue to substitute for Millsaps through the end of the season.

Both Justin Brayton and Smith started the first moto in the top-10 with Brayton seventh and Smith 10th. Throughout the 30-minute plus two lap race Brayton maintained seventh with Smith at times inside the top-10 and at others just outside of it. In the final laps Smith drifted back to 14th.

When the second moto left the gate Brayton rounded the first turn in eighth with Smith unfortunately buried in the 40-rider field with his work cut out for him. On the fourth lap Brayton moved forward into seventh. Smith fought his way into the top-20, and then all the way up to 12th. Ultimately both Brayton and Smith would repeat their previous moto finishes, with Brayton seventh and Smith 14th. Interestingly, Brayton’s seven – seven moto scores earned him seventh overall, with Smiths 14 – 14 results giving him 14th for the day.

The first moto action from Steel City was broadcast live on allisports.com and FUEL TV. The second moto airs tonight at 8:00 p.m. (EST) on SPEED. There will be a Steel City highlights and re-cap show Thursday, Sept. 8 at 10:00 p.m. (EST) on FUEL TV. The final round of the series will be Sept. 10 at Pala Raceway in Pala, Calif. The first moto will air live on allisports.com and FUEL TV at 1:00 p.m. (EST). SPEED will broadcast the second moto live at 7:00 p.m. (EST).
