BTOsports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Oakland Race Recap

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Thomas Suffers Tough Luck in Oak-Town

The BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki team rider Jason Thomas can be accused of a lot of things like bring vertically challenged, liking Rocky IV too much and being a little serious on race day but one of the things that no one can say about him is that he doesn’t give it his all out on the track. The long-time privateer is a favorite of many fans and fellow racers because of the honest effort he gives out on the track.

This past weekend at round four of the AMA Supercross series in Oakland, California, Thomas went out there and just missed out on a direct transfer to the main in his heat by placing tenth. Being one spot out of making it to the main meant the dreaded Last Chance Qualifier where only the top two made it in.

“I was feeling pretty good out there really and I’ve dominated the LCQ’s in the past so I know I could win” said JT after the race “But unfortunately, I got a bad jump off the gate and in that race, the start is everything.”

And with that bad start went any chance of a main event on this week for Thomas (who has made two out of the four so far this year) and he’ll go to Anaheim this weekend with one thing on his mind-revenge. Kind of what Rocky was going after the death of Apollo in Jason’s favorite movie.

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Thomas Suffers Tough Night in Phoenix

After a sterling Anaheim 1, BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Jason Thomas didn’t have the same fortunes at the second round of the AMA Supercross series held at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

After struggling a bit in qualifying, the team and Thomas was excited for the changes they made on the Suzuki RMZ 450 to come into effect in the heat race. In that first heat, JT$ was in qualifying position when another rider came over on him and took the #47 out.

“It was a dumb move made by a guy that has a history of dumb moves and I’m not happy about it at all” says Thomas “We’re both in qualifying spots on a track that’s not easy to pass on and I don’t know what that guy was thinking.”

He added “It’s a long season, no need to do that. I owe him one.”

Look for Thomas to rebound next week in Dodger Stadium with a strong ride as he continues to impress this year.

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Seattle Race Recap

April 29th, 2010 RK EXCEL No comments

Seattle, WA- The BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki supercross team rolled into Seattle for round fifteen of seventeen with a new addition to the 450 class. Troy Adams was put on a 450 to see what he could do and he easily made the 20-man main event.

The track was as soft as mom’s chocolate chip cookies coming out of the oven and the ruts were deep enough to swallow our own Jason Thomas so when Adams didn’t get a great start, his work was cut out for him. He worked his way up to 9th within the first 10 laps, but then a fall on the “swamp like” track had him looking to settle in for a 14th place finish. However on the final lap, the deep ruts caught Adams foot pegs on the face of the big triple and sent him sailing through the air with no bike. Adams hit the ground hard, but thankfully had no major injuries. Adams finished in 16th.

JT$ had some bad luck in his heat race but going to the LCQ was nothing to be worried about as he has proved to be the master of these. Unfortunately just as he was in third and looking to make a move up, he tipped over in a turn and that was all she wrote folks. JT’s missed main event was his first miss of the season.

Our 250 west rider Bobby Kiniry rode hard all night and despite not getting a great start, he almost finished inside the top ten. The New Yorker will look to try and avenge his night this weekend in Salt Lake City.

BTOsports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Dallas Race Report

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Dallas Race Report

Dallas, TX- This weekend in Dallas, the BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki team hit Dallas looking to keep on its upward trend of the last few weeks. Team rider Troy Adams was feeling it all day as he took his RMZ250 to some top five qualifying times and Troy looked to grab a great finish in the main event.

And a great start it was for Adams as he was running second with a clear track in front of him. Unfortunately not too long into the race, he made contact with another rider and went down in a heap. By the time Troy got going and shook off the cobwebs, the best he could do was a seventeenth. Troy is still within earshot of the top ten in points and that is the team’s goal at this point.

450 team rider Jason Thomas was riding well in his main but once he was lapped by the leaders, he got out of his rhythm and it was a frustrating second half of the race for the privateer hero. “I felt good, I liked the track but once I started seeing all those blue flags waving at me, well I thought I was an extra in Avatar and not in the main anymore” reported Thomas.

Kyle Keylon had a crash filled night on his way to a DNQ and it was a scary moment for our young rookie Lucas Crespi as he went down in the tabletop section and had to be taken to the local hospital for observation. Crespi suffered stage 3 contusions to both his lungs (in english, both lungs were badly bruised and bleeding internally). After two and a half days in there, Crespi was released and hopefully will be back in about 6 weeks.

The AMA Supercross series is one of the most dangerous forms of motorcycling racing that is out there and this past weekend, we learned that fact all too well at Dallas. All of us here would like to offer our sincere condolences to the Masterpool family over the passing of their son Jesse.
