BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Seattle Race Recap

April 29th, 2010 RK EXCEL No comments

Seattle, WA- The BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki supercross team rolled into Seattle for round fifteen of seventeen with a new addition to the 450 class. Troy Adams was put on a 450 to see what he could do and he easily made the 20-man main event.

The track was as soft as mom’s chocolate chip cookies coming out of the oven and the ruts were deep enough to swallow our own Jason Thomas so when Adams didn’t get a great start, his work was cut out for him. He worked his way up to 9th within the first 10 laps, but then a fall on the “swamp like” track had him looking to settle in for a 14th place finish. However on the final lap, the deep ruts caught Adams foot pegs on the face of the big triple and sent him sailing through the air with no bike. Adams hit the ground hard, but thankfully had no major injuries. Adams finished in 16th.

JT$ had some bad luck in his heat race but going to the LCQ was nothing to be worried about as he has proved to be the master of these. Unfortunately just as he was in third and looking to make a move up, he tipped over in a turn and that was all she wrote folks. JT’s missed main event was his first miss of the season.

Our 250 west rider Bobby Kiniry rode hard all night and despite not getting a great start, he almost finished inside the top ten. The New Yorker will look to try and avenge his night this weekend in Salt Lake City.

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki St Louis Race Recap

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Adams Sings the Blues in St Louis, Keylon has Career Best Finish

St Louis, MO- This weekend the AMA Supercross series was in the ‘Show-me’ state and that’s precisely what BTOSports/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki supercross race team did to the jam packed Edward Jones Dome in St Louis. The star of the team was Kyle “The Missing” Keylon as he scored a career high tenth place in the highly competitive 250 class. After struggling a bit early on in the season, Keylon turned it on the last two weeks and ended up with a 13th and a 10th and the improvement has been great to see.

The teams lone 450 rider Jason “Solar Radar” Thomas had a disappointing night as he had some problems getting off the line and then was bounced around at the back of the pack for a little while. He’s really small so sometimes he’s like a little pinball back there! Still, his never-say-die attitude served him well and he ended up with a 16th on the night.

The teams other rider, Troy Adams, came up short on a jump trying to qualify for the main event and sprained his wrist. He was unable to compete the rest of the night and with the DNF dropped from tenth to thirteenth in the points. Truly a heartbreaking night for the big guy.

BTO Sports/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Adams Races to 6th!

April 1st, 2010 RK EXCEL No comments

Jacksonville, Fla- Being back in his home state must have brought out the best for BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Troy “Fatty McCheeseburger” Adams as he raced to a season high sixth place at round six of the 250 east series held this past weekend in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Homosassa, Florida native came around at the end of lap one in tenth and through a combination of hard work and speed, moved up to sixth by the end of the race. With the great result, Adams moved into the top ten in the series and looks to be poised for big things from here on out.

“Troy really did well” said team manager Forrest Butler “Y’know, he’s really too big for that bike but what people don’t realize is that, with the big body comes a big heart. And he certainly showed that today”

The team’s lone 450 rider, Jason “Privateer 4 life” Thomas again made the 20 man main event and raced hard to a sixteenth place finish after a couple of mistakes initially. This result allowed JT$ to move closer towards the top ten in that class.

BTOsports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Dallas Race Report

March 23rd, 2010 RK EXCEL No comments

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Dallas Race Report

Dallas, TX- This weekend in Dallas, the BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki team hit Dallas looking to keep on its upward trend of the last few weeks. Team rider Troy Adams was feeling it all day as he took his RMZ250 to some top five qualifying times and Troy looked to grab a great finish in the main event.

And a great start it was for Adams as he was running second with a clear track in front of him. Unfortunately not too long into the race, he made contact with another rider and went down in a heap. By the time Troy got going and shook off the cobwebs, the best he could do was a seventeenth. Troy is still within earshot of the top ten in points and that is the team’s goal at this point.

450 team rider Jason Thomas was riding well in his main but once he was lapped by the leaders, he got out of his rhythm and it was a frustrating second half of the race for the privateer hero. “I felt good, I liked the track but once I started seeing all those blue flags waving at me, well I thought I was an extra in Avatar and not in the main anymore” reported Thomas.

Kyle Keylon had a crash filled night on his way to a DNQ and it was a scary moment for our young rookie Lucas Crespi as he went down in the tabletop section and had to be taken to the local hospital for observation. Crespi suffered stage 3 contusions to both his lungs (in english, both lungs were badly bruised and bleeding internally). After two and a half days in there, Crespi was released and hopefully will be back in about 6 weeks.

The AMA Supercross series is one of the most dangerous forms of motorcycling racing that is out there and this past weekend, we learned that fact all too well at Dallas. All of us here would like to offer our sincere condolences to the Masterpool family over the passing of their son Jesse.

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Daytona Race Recap

March 10th, 2010 RK EXCEL No comments

Daytona, Florida- With America’s most famous race track providing the backdrop, the Florida-based BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki SX team returned to show its sponsors, families and friends just what it takes to compete on the highest level of supercross. With it being round nine of the seventeen race series, the team’s lone 450 rider, Jason Thomas was happy to be home and once again dominated the LCQ to make it into the main.

“I know everyone says the main event is the one you want to win and I sort of agree with that” said Thomas “But still, a wins a win and the people in the stands and some of our key FL sponsor like Palmetto Motorsports Suzuki were there and I got to give them all a good shout out up on the podium.”

Once in the actual main, the diminutive Thomas stood tall in his charge from the back. He eventually finished 14th for his best finish in four weeks and now stands 16th in the points.

Teams riders, Troy Adams, Kyle Keylon fared pretty well in the cold Florida night. Adams and Keylon made the 250 main but once there got bad starts and a couple of crashes each. Adams won the battle between them and captured that elusive 17th place with Keylon 18th. Our supercross rookie, Lucas Crespi crashed in the first turn in his heat and was unable to qualify.

BTOsports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Thomas Charges to 15th

March 4th, 2010 RK EXCEL No comments

Atlanta, GA- The BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki supercross race team came into round eight of the supercross series looking for redemption after a rough weekend in Indianapolis. Team riders Jason “Solar Radar” Thomas, Kyle “St Pete for life” Keylon, Troy “Monster” Adams and Lucas “George” Crespi are all native Floridians so they were feeling the love of the deep south.

And the man who might be the shortest rider on the stood tall on this night. Thomas qualified directly into the 450 main event and once there rode well on his way to a 15th place. Despite some bar-banging with another rider that cost him some time and positions, JT finished strong and is now in 16th in the series points standings.

Keylon did well in making his first 250 main of the year but some crashes held him back once he got there. Last week’s tenth place finisher, Adams had a first lap crash in his heat race and a bad start in the LCQ that hurt his chances at making it. Crespi has some problems as well that prevented him from qualifying for the main.

“I’m pumped on our guys at the amount of effort they gave but I do wish we had some better results” said team manager Forrest Butler “We’ll do better next week or at least I hope we do or I’m going to start kicking ass and taking names.”

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Indy Race Recap

February 26th, 2010 RK EXCEL No comments

Indianapolis, Indiana- The AMA Supercross series headed east to the cold confines of the Lucas Oil Stadium for round seven of the 450 class and round one of the 250 class. It was the BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki season debuts of Kyle Keylon, Lucas Crespi and Troy Adams.

And of course, there is always the steady presence of 450 rider and team captain, Jason Thomas. JT has had a few problems in recent mains and in Indy, it continued. The bright light for JT$ is that he has shown that he can dominate LCQ’s with the best of them. We’re still working on the dominating of the main but hopefully one day.

Thomas finished 17th in the main and is 17th in the points chase as well.

As far as our 250 riders are concerned, first turn crashes did both Keylon and Crespi in and both riders failed to qualify for the main event. T-Roy showed everyone what kind of talent he has as, despite only riding for a few weeks, made the main and placed top ten. It was a great ride for Adams, all things considered.

BTO Sports/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki A2 Race Recap

January 27th, 2010 RK EXCEL No comments

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Thomas Comes Up Big at A2

Anaheim, CA- With so much riding on getting a good start on the 2010 AMA Supercross series, there wasn’t much doubt that missing the first round makes it doubly important to maximize your results.

And that’s just what BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Jason Thomas has done so far. After being forced to miss A1 due to the immediate need to clinch the German Supercross title, Thomas rode strong last week in Phoenix on his way to a 14th in the 450 main event.

Forced to make it into this week’s race at Anaheim via winning the LCQ, Thomas started poorly in the main event, ending the first lap in 18th. From there he charged hard the whole way and ended the race with another 14th and with another few laps, JT$ might have been able to make a few more passes.

250 rider Bobby Kiniry continued his run of getting into main events and finished a credible 11th. After scores of 13-9-11 through three rounds, he sits inside the top ten in the 250 west series points and is looking to get that podium speed that he’s shown in the past.

The teams other 250 rider, Ben Evans, crashed hard on his shoulder in the heat while in qualifying position and after consulting with doctors, will sit out this weekend’s race in San Francisco.

BTOSports/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki Phoenix Race Recap

January 19th, 2010 RK EXCEL No comments

BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki’s Thomas, Kiniry and Evans Step It Up in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ- The BTOSports.com/BBMX/Palmetto Suzuki supercross team rolled into Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona with 450 rider (and wunderkind of the German supercross series) Jason Thomas back and ready to go. He, along with 250 riders Bobby Kiniry and Ben Evans, were all looking to put in a good showing for the team.

Thomas showed that he wasn’t just eating sausages and being lazy while in Germany when he went out in the heat and placed ninth and earning the last transfer spot to the main event. Once there, JT$ once again got his usual crappy start and rounded the first lap in nineteenth. The veteran put his head down and pushed hard the whole race to end up fourteenth at the end.

“It was a good showing for JT considering it really was his first race of the year and everyone already went through their first race jitters” said team manager Forrest Butler.

In the 250 class, team riders Kiniry and Evans once again put it into the main event via the heat race but both once again suffered terrible starts as they came around in fifteenth (Kiniry) and eighteenth (Evans.)

Both guys had their work cut out for them and Kiniry eventually battled hard to make it all the way into the top ten with a finish of ninth. Evans had some bad luck and could only manage a seventeenth.

After two rounds of supercross, Kiniry is in ninth position and only a handful of points out of sixth. Evans is nineteenth but we know better things lay ahead for last season’s privateer hero.

Sherri Cruse Southwick Race Update

September 2nd, 2009 RK EXCEL No comments

This past weekend I raced Round 7 of the Lucas Oil AMA Women’s Motocross Championship (aka WMA Pro Nationals) at Southwick. It rained from about 9pm throughout the night before and it rained or sort of misted off and on throughout race day. The track was heavy, but I felt pretty comfortable riding in those conditions even though I crashed in qualifying and went to the gate last (24th gate pick, ha, ha).

In moto one, I came into the first corner around 4th or 5th which was great considering my gate pick. The track was rutted but I found some virgin lines and made some good passes, I finished in 2nd place.

In the second moto, I had the same gate pick, but I came into the first corner in 2nd position and when my front end washed out, another rider hit my back tire and I went down (not sure if I was already going down) and by the time I got remounted and started again I was in 24th place and nearly a lap down. I wanted to salvage as many championship points as I could so I just charged and tried to move through the field quickly. I finished 9th in the second moto for 4th overall. I tied for the second fastest lap time in moto 2 with Ashley Fiolek.

Top 5 were:
1. Jessica Patterson 1 – 1
2. Ashley Fiolek 3 – 2
3. Tarah Gieger 7 – 3
4. Sherri Cruse 2 – 9
5. Heidi Cooke 6 – 4

Moto Two Lap Times
Patterson 2:37.574
Cruse 2:39.421
Fiolek 2:39.421
Cooke 2:41.296
Gieger 2:41.632

Next week is the last race of the season at Steel City. I am third in points with a good lead over 4th. I will keep you all posted.

Thank you for your support,
Sherri Cruse # 3
